FAQ
-
What kinds of projects do you work on?
I design full renovation projects — primarily kitchens, bathrooms, mudrooms, laundry rooms, and living spaces.
I also design great rooms, fireplaces, built-ins, cabinetry, and any space where a contractor is involved and the layout, function, and finishes need to be thoughtfully reworked.
If the space is being opened up, rebuilt, reframed, reconfigured, or fully renovated — that’s where I work best.
My focus is always the same: fixing what isn’t working so your home feels calm, cohesive, and supportive of your daily life.
-
What types of homes do you typically work on?
I primarily work on older homes throughout New England — homes with character, history, and layouts that no longer support modern daily life.
Many of these spaces feel chopped up, dark, or inefficient. Kitchens that don’t flow. Bathrooms that were updated but still feel cramped. Mudrooms that create more chaos than calm.
I specialize in reworking these outdated layouts so the home feels cohesive, functional, and supportive — without stripping away its original charm.
Older homes aren’t the problem. Outdated solutions are.
-
Do you offer decorating or styling-only services?
No. My work focuses on full renovation design — reworking layout, flow, cabinetry, lighting, and materials. I do not offer decorating-only or small styling projects.
I believe if the layout is wrong, no amount of decor will fix how the space feels.
-
I live far away. Can you really work with clients remotely?
Yes.
Remote renovation design is a core part of my work. I provide the same function-first, construction-aware design process to clients across the U.S. as I do locally in New England.
This is not decorating or “e-design.” It’s full renovation design — including layout reconfiguration, cabinetry planning, lighting strategy, and material selections — delivered clearly and collaboratively online.
You receive a complete, cohesive plan that your contractor can build from, along with ongoing design support throughout your renovation.
-
How involved will I need to be in the design process?
You’ll be involved in key decisions, but you won’t be managing the process alone. I guide selections, narrow options, and create structure so decisions feel clear — not overwhelming.
-
What geographic area do you serve?
I provide in-person renovation design throughout New England.
For clients located in Vermont and New Hampshire, I also collaborate directly with trusted local builders during construction.
In addition to local projects, I offer full-service remote renovation design for clients across the United States.
Whether you’re nearby or across the country, the focus is the same: creating a clear, function-first plan before construction begins.
-
What do your remote packages include?
My remote renovation packages include full layout and flow redesign, functional planning, cabinetry drawings, lighting guidance, and complete material and finish selections.
You receive a detailed renovation plan that your contractor can build from, along with clear documentation and ongoing design support throughout your project.
It’s the same function-first, construction-aware approach I use for in-person clients — delivered remotely.
-
What’s the difference between your remote service and full service design?
Both services include the same function-first, construction-aware renovation design process — layout redesign, cabinetry planning, lighting strategy, and complete material selections.
With full-service renovation design (across New England), I work with you in person. I visit your home, take measurements, assess the existing layout and light, and collaborate directly with your contractor throughout the renovation. In Vermont and New Hampshire, I also partner with trusted local builders during construction.
With remote renovation design, I create a complete, construction-ready plan for you to implement with your local contractor. I guide the process virtually and remain involved during your renovation, but I do not visit the site in person.
In both cases, the outcome is the same: a clear, cohesive renovation plan that’s thoughtfully designed and built to truly support your daily life.
-
How much does it cost and what are the service levels?
At this time, I offer Full-Service Renovation Design both locally throughout New England and remotely across the U.S.
Remote renovation design begins at $2,800 per space.
In-person renovation design throughout New England begins at $4,000 per space. For clients located in Vermont and New Hampshire, in-person design + build collaboration is available. I work alongside trusted local builders to ensure your renovation is executed clearly, cohesively, and with the function-first thinking your home deserves.
-
What’s the timeline for a design project?
Most renovation design projects take 6–10 weeks, depending on scope and complexity.
The timeline includes layout development, functional planning, cabinetry design, material selections, and final construction documentation. Larger or more structurally involved renovations may take longer.
I take on a limited number of projects at a time to ensure each space is thoughtfully designed and fully resolved before construction begins.
-
What if I don’t know my budget, or I’m overwhelmed by choices?
That’s completely normal.
Most clients come to me unsure of realistic renovation costs or feeling overwhelmed by the number of decisions involved.
To help with that, I created a Renovation Pricing & Planning Guide that walks you through real investment ranges for kitchens, bathrooms, mudrooms, and laundry rooms — based on actual New England projects.
You can review it here.
Once we begin working together, I guide you through decisions in a clear, structured way so the process feels manageable — not exhausting.
You don’t need to have every detail figured out before starting. Clarity is part of the process.
-
Do you handle construction and installation as well?
I provide full renovation design and collaborate closely with your contractor throughout the build.
For local clients in Vermont and New Hampshire, I partner with trusted builders to ensure the design is executed clearly and cohesively.
For remote clients and projects outside those areas, I create a complete construction-ready plan and remain involved during your renovation to support decisions and maintain design integrity.
My role is to make sure the space is thoughtfully designed and built as intended.
-
Do I need to have a contractor before reaching out?
No — but it helps to think about both early.
In an ideal world, we finalize your design first so you can approach contractors with a clear, detailed plan. That allows for more accurate estimates and fewer surprises during construction.
That said, involving both your designer and contractor from the beginning can also be a strong approach. In some cases, we attend initial site visits or estimates together to ensure alignment from the start.
Because many contractors book out well in advance, I recommend beginning your contractor search as soon as you know you want to renovate — even if design begins first.
For clients in New England, I’m associated with multiple trusted builders and can help coordinate based on availability and project fit.
-
How far in advance should I reach out?
The earlier, the better.
Most renovation design projects begin several months before construction. Design takes time — especially when layouts are being reworked and decisions need to be fully resolved before building begins.
Contractors often book out well in advance, sometimes 12–24 months depending on scope and season. If you’re hoping to renovate this year, it’s wise to begin conversations now — even if construction won’t start for a while.
Starting early allows for a thoughtful design process, realistic pricing, and a smoother overall renovation.
-
How do I get started?
The first step is to complete my Intake Form.
This gives me a clear understanding of your space, what isn’t working, and what you’re hoping to change. I personally review each inquiry and will follow up if your project is aligned.
